The Maryland Water Monitoring Council (MWMC) serves as a state-wide collaborative body to help achieve effective collection, interpretation, and dissemination  of environmental data related to issues, policies, and resource management involving the Maryland water monitoring community.

A monitoring probe as it is being removed from a sampling site The MWMC addresses the full range of aquatic watershed resources in Maryland. including ground and surface waters, freshwater, estuarine and marine  environments, and associated watershed resources in Maryland.

The MWMC sponsors a number of standing committees and ad hoc workgroups that meet regularly throughout the year. These groups work through a process of consensus to help achieve the Council’s purpose and goals. From time to time, committees and workgroups sponsor  workshops.

The Council also holds an Annual Conference to promote an exchange of information within Maryland's water monitoring community.   In 2008, the conference was held on December 4, 2008.   For more details see the Announcements Page.
